Send us the ECU Info for verifications of the Deployable Tow Bar ECU firmware version. Menu–ECU Info, use the send email button. No screenshot please.

L405 and L494. There are two hardware version of the Tow Bar ECU.
On earlier cars, this one was fitted, version A, HK6M19H544AK. It will support just towbar only and not running boards

On later ones, version B, K6M19H544BL (VPLGT0204) will support towbar and running boards.

The ECU will have to be replaced with the B version on cars with the A version.

Once confirmed the correct hardware is fitted,

-MultiCAN 505 – Fitted
-If 2021+ and X761, L461 or L560: MultiCAN 705 – Type 1 (440 Hall counts) on TBM
-If 2021+ and L462: MultiCAN 705 –  Type 3 (515 Hall counts) on RBM
-If 2021+  and L663: MultiCAN 705 –  Type 4 (355 Hall counts) on RBM
-L460: MultiCAN 705 – Type 5 (Hall counts TBC)

The next step is required on all 2017 to 2019 and L494 up to 2022.

All 2017+

Let the car go to sleep, lock the doors and wait 5 minutes.

Remove any object from the running boards

Enter the vehicle and close all doors.

On the Nav screen,

-Click on the Deployable Step button.

-Click on the Power button.

-Open the driver door, the steps will hide inward.

-Close the door, wait until the soft close, if present, closes the doors completely.

-Open the doors, steps should go outward.

-Repeat on the passenger side.

-Set the steps to Roof Access Mode

-Tighten the final bolts, 48 NM.
